My Story

Hi everyone, my name is Danielle Ferree. College Dieting is a healthy living website that is dedicated to inspiring and motivating others to lead full, happy, andhealthy lives. I recently started up my new life, free from ED (My eating disorder) Please, join me in my journey as I follow my dreams and concur my fears as I continue the road to recovery.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am currently in to process of completing my undergraduate Business Marketing and Health Science at Loyola MarymountUniversity. I also work in the schools Fitness center as the peer nutritionist where I give consultation and exercise advice. I have always been passionate about nutrition and fitness and have a heart that love to help others. I’ve done nutrition research until I was blue in the face and have read millions of articles on diet advice.
I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved out to California for school all alone. During my freshman year I developed a serve eating disorder, anorexia. I am 5'8 and at one point was below 100lbs. I obsessed over my looks, food, exercise and how beautiful everyone was around me. I became very depressed and knew that I needed to seek help. After receiving help my mind and body were not used to the freedom I allowed myself and I quickly started the habit of bingeing. I to this day have never thrown up, but I would constantly binge. I gain 30 pounds more then I have ever weight in my life and still had disordered eating habits, obsessions with calorie counting and cared way to much about my image and beauty. I lost track of who I was on the inside. It has taken me several years before I finally decided to stop the obsession and free myself from the struggle. This me on my long long journey to lose the weight- and more- in a healthy manner, free of obsession.
I’m writing about how I finally found peace with my weight and my body and I want to show others how to listen and trust their body and that it is ok to eat lots of nutritious food. Food is NOT the enemy.Let’s stop denying ourselves and start listening to ourselves more! Let’s take away the guilt that is often associated with food and our bodies.
I am following the Tone it up Lifestyle plan of unprocessed, artificially free foods and also Oh She Glows plan of eating a mostly a vegan and unprocessed diet which was a gradual shift over the years as I learned more about nutrition and health.
I will post healthy, good tasting recipes that I create to keep myself inspired about food. Food used to be the enemy for me, but now it is a huge source of pleasure in my life! One aspect of Oh She Glows is the Green Monster Movement and have been enjoying Green Monsters as a part of each day!
